Barco recently joined with DreamWorks Animation to unveil the studio’s first animated movie mixed with Barco Auro 11.1, its 3D cinema audio solution. "Barco demonstrated the system for journalists [at an exclusive press conference on November 1] with audio samples recorded in both an Amsterdam city square and in a rural area, cutting out layers of sound to demonstrate how much information is lost with the additional height offered by Auro 11.1."

Very soon, Polish rental and staging companies will be able to boast a new standard in large-venue projection. Pro4Media, one of Poland’s leading AV experts, has just received its batch of four Barco HDF-W26 FLEX projectors, to complement its existing FLM stack. With this order, Pro4Media becomes one of the first AV suppliers to offer the 26,000 lumens Barco projectors to the eastern European rental and staging market. In the short run, the company will further add four top-of-line Barco HDQ-2K40 and four projectors from the HDX-family to its new-generation high-brightness range.

The holiday movie season officially kicks-off today with the premiere of Rise of the Guardians, DreamWorks Animation’s first animated feature utilizing Barco’s Auro 11.1 3D sound format to deliver amazing cinema sound for a truly immersive experience. According to Michael White, reporter for Bloomberg Businessweek, “Studios and technology companies are developing new sound systems to draw consumers into theaters rather than watch movies on television and small devices.”

The Brazilian Institute for Research and Education in Diagnostic Medicine (IPmed) has recently installed Barco’s MDRC-2120 clinical review displays in its Digital Education Laboratory (LED), where students can experience the latest developments in diagnostic hardware and software.
