130,600 visitors, 93% of them decision-makers, from 120+ countries visited the recent Medica trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany. Many of them – including Kris Peeters, Minister President of Flanders - passed by the Barco booth, which was centered around the 2nd generation JAO Smart Terminals. The interest in the bedside terminals was huge.

Barco continues to grow its support of breast imaging education, supplying its latest mammography display systems, image projection software tool and technical support to assist in the delivery of more than 60 hands-on mammography education programs in over 20 countries worldwide. In its seventh year now, the recent ‘Symphonica in Rosso’ musical event in Arnhem (the Netherlands) was, again, no less than a resounding success. Its secret? A unique concept and atmosphere, the great live performance of this year’s headliner - the legendary Dutch 80s band Doe Maar - and ... Barco’s HDQ-2K40 projectors. The brand-new ultra-bright projectors were installed by Creative Technology Holland to visualize images onto a transparent screen of 72 by 12 meters.

Over six years ago, Holy Name Medical Center (New Jersey) was one of the first hospitals in the US to offer its patients bedside entertainment. When, after six years of service, the existing bedside entertainment and communication system was up for renewal, the hospital replaced it with 340 Barco JAO Point-of-Care Smart Terminals (ST-154A). Much to the satisfaction of patients as well as healthcare staff.

Since 2012, the German airport of Stuttgart has boasted an innovative Total Airport Management software (TAMS) suite that helps reduce delays, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions while raising passenger comfort. Air Traffic Management (ATM) expert Barco Orthogon has successfully contributed to the project by developing a novel working position, called Airside Tactical Working Position (ATWP), which is supported by its coupled Arrival and Departure Manager (AMAN/DMAN) to ensure the most efficient use of available airport capacities.

Reduced budgets and a demand for increased training effectiveness are fueling the growth of virtual training for pilots. In response to the need for more cost-effective visualization solutions, Barco has developed the SIM 7Q-HC, integrating Sony’s new LCoS technology into its SIM 7Q to boost the contrast ratio 4X higher than any other simulation projector on the market. The SIM 7Q is widely recognized as an industry-leading projector for use in immersive training.

The demand for state-of-the-art projectors and image processing products is booming in the Middle East, as appears from the great interest in Barco solutions during recent local trade fairs and customer requests. To serve its clients in this thriving market to the max, Barco Dubai has recently joined forces with AV expert TechnoPro LLC. Under the agreement - worth several million dollars -, TechnoPro will ensure the availability, delivery and support for Barco’s projection and image processing range.

When Caribbean Cinemas wanted to significantly enhance its entertainment offerings with projectors that match its commitment to quality and attention to detail, it looked to Barco to complete its circuit-wide digital cinema deployment. Barco is providing a full range of DLP Cinema® projectors to convert Caribbean Cinemas’ film-based theaters to the latest, state-of-the-art digital projection technology, ultimately installing projectors in up to 437 screens.

Prof. Dr Alexander Cavallero, an expert in digital radiology and head of the Radiological Institute at the German Erlangen hospital, has been cooperating with Barco since 2004.
