Barco LiveDots is lighting up the busiest intersection in New York City, bringing its ultra-high contrast LED to commercial real estate mogul Vornado’s high-profile property. Partnering with the Barnycz Group, a Baltimore-based experiential design firm, Barco crafted a stunning three-panel LED display for Vornado Realty Trust’s highly trafficked location within Penn Plaza, a thoroughfare for more than 600,000 commuters daily.

The French purchasing agency UGAP (l’Union des groupements d’achats publics) was so impressed by Barco’s wide product range, its technical leadership and its dedication that it decided to recommend Barco’s diagnostic and clinical review displays to all public hospitals in France. Over the next three years, French public hospitals will be able to purchase our medical display solutions without having to follow normal tender regulations, which will save them considerable time and effort.

This year’s JFR trade show takes place from 19 till 23 October. A range of Barco’s medical display products will be on show during this radiology and medical imaging exhibition in Paris, France.

When Hallett Cinemas decided to convert its theater circuit to digital, it made the most of Barco’s unique platform efficiencies when selecting its projectors. The company is taking full advantage of their modularity and energy efficiency to generate a quick payback, retrofitting them with projector-mounted exhaust fans and utilizing the less expensive/longer life lower-wattage lamps. ‘The Pleasure Garden’, a Hitchcock classic from 1925, projected live on Copacabana beach in digital format: it was one of the eyecatchers at the recent 14th Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival. In the space of two weeks, over 400 movies were shown, most of them digitally. As an event sponsor, Barco had installed four digital cinema projectors in all at four different theaters.

Barco was honored by InfoComm International with the Sustainable Technology Award for its implementation of environmentally sustainable practices. Recognized at this year's "InfoComm 100," an annual conference designed to bring together the AV industry's top thought leaders and volunteers, Barco achieved the honor based on its wide array of green policies and practices designed to reduce energy consumption and minimize CO2 emissions that are harmful to the environment.

This year’s InfoComm tradeshow for the Middle East, Africa and Gulf region takes place from 14 to 18 October in Dubai. More than 80 companies will showcase their latest developments in AV systems and technologies for a variety of applications. Barco is one of the exhibiting companies.

High resolution, extensive collaboration features, and the largest display surface: these were the requirements the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) laid down for its upgraded 3D Visual Reality Center. Its technology partner, Schlumberger Information Solutions, suggested installing a MegaCADWall consisting of six Galaxy NW-12 projectors, a giant superflat 7.2 m x 3m glass screen (among the largest in the oil market today) and an XDS-1000 display management system. The solution exceeds the client’s expectations.

Tune in to the new medical drama, The Mob Doctor, on FOX Mondays at 9 p.m. Eastern, and you’ll see Barco’s healthcare displays located throughout the hospital studio set. When developing the new series, Sony Pictures wanted the most cutting-edge medical displays for placement in its ER, ICUs, operating rooms and radiology suite. Barco provided the right touch of high-tech realism to the show with its MDRC clinical review, MDSC surgical and Coronis diagnostic displays to showcase the latest medical technologies.

As it has for the past 39 years, the city of Ghent is again providing the setting for the Flanders International Film Festival in October. From 9 to 20 October, over 100 feature and 30 short films will be screened for an estimated total of 130,000 people. To help offer the audience a memorable film experience, Barco partner XL Video will equip the festival’s venues with a range of Barco products.
