Water, light and creative performances combine into a stunning display of theater and special effects to create the world’s most spectacular water show, the “House of Dancing Water,” at City of Dreams in Macau, China. Created and directed by showmaker Franco Dragone of “Cirque du Soleil” fame, House of Dancing Water relies on Barco’s DML 1200s and FLM HD20s to create the magnificently illuminated backdrops, a drumwall projection and stage floor imagery.

Today, Barco introduces its LED backlit main display for Air Traffic Control at ATC Global 2011 in Amsterdam. With the new ISIS display, Barco offers the first green main display for ATC controller working positions.

Every year, several hundred of the nation’s top Draft-eligible college football players undergo an intensive evaluation at the annual National Football League (NFL) Scouting Combine, also known as the National Invitational Camp, in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. The purpose: to assess players’ potential for playing professional football for one of 32 NFL teams in the U.S. This year, Barco provided several dozen of its industry-leading medical imaging displays for use by radiologists and team medical staffs to evaluate athletes’ health.

At the CeBIT tradeshow, taking place this week in Hannover, Barco partner Fraunhofer IOSB present their Smart Control Room concept, using a 3x2 Barco OV-515 overview wall.

The Smart Control Room is equipped with a large rear-projection video wall, video cameras and microphones. The overview video wall is the ideal visualization technology to gather all incoming information from its associated operations centers. It is controlled by gestures and voice recognition and as such, it allows multiple users to work with video walls without mouse or touch interface.

From 22 to 24 February, Barco, in a partnership with Arcos Digital Filmes/Fundição Progresso, was part of a social inclusion project called ‘5 Views - Technical Training in Audivisual’, which serves the poor communities in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Some of the best artists and technicians of national cinema acted as professional teachers. Barco contributed to this social project with three classes about digital cinema projection, taught by Barco training specialist Lucas Crantschaninov.
