Vulture UAV program

Barco was selected by Advanced Technologies & Engineering (ATE) in 2006 for the delivery of compact rugged consoles. ATE has integrated Barco's Vista 1000 consoles inside the Vulture UAV Ground Control Stations of the South African Army. Barco's rugged consoles will present South African field commanders with real-time, high-resolution video images and data from a variety of sensor sources.

ATE opted for Barco's compact rugged consoles because they proved to be perfectly fit for the intended application. Next to the extensive processing power, which is indispensable in UAV applications, and the high-quality video insertion and display capabilities, ATE also valued Barco's Vista 1000 consoles for their compactness and ergonomics. Additionally, Barco's rugged technology has been designed and qualified for the most harsh environments and long-endurance operations.

Barco customized its Vista 1000 consoles to meet the specific needs of the South African Army. Customization included the integration of a video box and specific arrangement of the touch button interface. Barco will also provide ATE with long-term support on its Vista 1000 consoles
