Pula Film Festival

Spectacular 3D projection with the help of Barco’s digital cinema projector

An ancient amphitheater in Pula, Croatia was the setting for a remarkable outdoor 3D film screening during the 59th Pula Film Festival. An audience of nearly 6,000 people – the largest for a 3D movie viewing so far – was offered excellent technological conditions in which to watch ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and 'Accidental Passer-By'.

The extraordinary technical setup was established by Zagreb-based digital cinema system integrator Laboratory of Multimedia Technologies (LMT). LMT installed a projection system with a Barco DP2K-32B ultra-bright cinema projector, which resulted in the 3D projection with the longest throw distance ever recorded: 73.6 meters or 242 feet. On top of that, the viewing angle of 60 degrees made sure that every single person seated in the amphitheater was able to experience the film projected onto the 18.6 meters wide screen in the best circumstances.
