Barco and Back to 1942 illuminate the future of China’s movie industry
To première his blockbuster Back to 1942, world-famous director Feng Xiaogang and the Huayi Borthers Media Corporation set up an exceptional screening at the Beijing National Stadium on 25 November last. The movie – which retells the history of the Henan famine – was shown on the world’s largest screen (38 m wide by 16 m high), using the world’s brightest projector: Barco’s DP2K-32B. With its unmatched image brightness, vibrant colors and superb contrast levels, the DP2K-32B immersed the audience – consisting of cast, directors, movie stars and over ten thousand movie enthusiasts – in a mind-blowing, cinematic experience.
In a statement following the première, Chen Xuxiang, General Manager of CFG-Barco Beijing, underlined the company’s commitment to support the production and hi-tech projection of Chinese films: “Focusing on the market’s demands, we will step up our R&D investments to promote the digitization of the local movie industry.”
