3D projection mapping at Fortis Hospital

Impressive 3D architectural projection mapping graces inauguration of Fortis Memorial Research Institute

To celebrate the inauguration of its premises in Gurgaon, the Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI) – the flagship venture of Fortis Group – wanted to give its audience something memorable. That’s why event organizers Encompass Events Pvt. Ltd. opted for spectacular 3D projection mapping onto the building’s façade, which measures about 10,000 square feet.

Bringing the story to life

Creative VFX and new-age communication expert Splat Studio, New Delhi, provided unique content for the show. Going beyond the mere gimmicks, the studio delivered a brilliant story, woven together with the magic of 3D illusion. This astonishing show was brought to life by 12 of Barco’s powerful FLM-R22s projectors, provided by Dynamix Media, New Delhi. About 600 people shared this unforgettable experience, including the film star Salman Khan.

Content and equipment: a winning team

With their unmatched brightness and ability to produce crisp clear images in circumstances with lots of ambient light, Barco’s FLM R22s projectors were the perfect choice for this event. Having worked with Barco in the past for projection mapping, both Splat Studio and Dynamix Media were confident that the combination of engaging content and top-notch equipment would ensure a world-class event. As an expert in content for large formats and augmented reality, Splat Studio especially praises the contrast and sharpness, ease of installation and alignment of Barco’s projectors, which constitute significant savings in man-hours.

In addition, Barco LiveDots installed two high-brightness TF-20 walls (20 mm pitch) of 4.8 by 4.8 meters on the hospital’s iconic tower. The project marks the first LED display on hospital premises in India.
