Barco demonstrates iTraffic Display Solution with Integrated Streaming Video Decoding at Intertraffic 2004
Intertraffic, March 30th Amsterdam (The Netherlands) - Continuing to provide and enable industry-leading solutions that respond to today’s and tomorrow’s traffic and transport needs, Barco will showcase its iTraffic solution – Network Visualization for Traffic Management on the Barco booth nr. 01.213 in Hall 1 at Intertraffic 2004 in Amsterdam from March 30th – April 2nd.
Barco's iTraffic is currently the most advanced visualization solution for traffic monitoring and control. iTraffic provides a Traffic Management Center with the ability to fully integrate visualization sub-systems into their Traffic Management Systems to allow for flexible display solutions, enhanced performance and quality, significant cost and space savings. In addition, iTraffic enables the external management of the visualization sub-system by higher level Traffic Management Systems via Application Programmer Interfaces (APIs). Physically, iTraffic consists of a range high-quality displays, Barco’s display controller series and wall management software.
Flexible display solutions with fully redundant and automated fail-over
Multiple rear-screen projection modules or LCD flat panel displays can be combined into a display wall of any size. The OverView D display solutions feature the latest DLP™ technology with automatic fail-over display lamp redundancy for 24/7 mission-critical applications. In addition, Barco also provides the Solaris LC40, a 40” LCD flat panel display, to complement its visualization solutions for all operational control centers –Collaborative Environments and Individual Workstations – and offering total interoperability with its range of controllers. The latest generation of Barco’s graphic controllers (Eos, Hydra, Argus) allow for virtually unlimited integration of data and video sources into one comprehensive overview taking into account specific requirements of size, video density and user interaction. As opposed to software based visualization solutions, the hardware processing provides the user with increased capacity,
better performance and quality. For example, the iTraffic solution with integrated streaming decoders can view up to 60 images at full resolution and full frame rate on a single display with one Hydra controller.
iTraffic offers different controllers with different capacities to support multiple configuration of displays and mix of inputs types to best suit the needs and cost requirements of each user.
Significant cost savings with integrated universal streaming video decoder
Barco’s iTraffic features a universal streaming video decoder solution that is integrated with the display controller. This integration saves up to 50% decoding costs per channel of decoded streaming video as well as valuable rack space. Thus, the controller can serve as a universal decoding platform, capable of accepting various streaming digital video formats (Wavelets, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 over RTP/TCP/UDP over IP). In addition, all controllers can support both analog and digital video inputs simultaneously (RGB, SDI, HD-SDI, Composite Video, S-Video, Panellink and Streaming Video). This provides the users with a truly flexible display solution that can facilitate a smooth and seamless transition from analog to digital video technologies. Barco ensures interoperability, after a period of testing, with full co-operation from selected manufacturers.
Integrated lay out management and digital video switching
iTraffic software is the first solution in the industry that provides integrated layout management and digital video switching on the large screen displays for a truly end to end digital system. iTraffic allows other higher level systems (e.g. Traffic Management Software) the ability to control the visualization system, thus realizing Event Associated Displays, Automated Tasks and facilitating simultaneous control over multiple displays. In addition, iTraffic’s API is published as Web Services (e.g. Windows .NET) to allow quick and easy customization and differentiation.
Distributed visualization allows users to use the right display solutions for the right environment and to manage them as one visualization network, thus increasing operational efficiency and enhancing information sharing.
