Barco and The Whitlock Group Equip new Kentucky Transportation Cabinet building
Atlanta, GA - Barco's Control Rooms division and The Whitlock Group are pleased to announce they have completed installation of a fully integrated control room traffic solution for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in Frankfort, Kentucky. The Whitlock Group, selected by PB Farradyne, the Systems Manager for KTC, integrated an 8' x 13' display wall composed of Barco OverView mDG50 50" DLPTM XGA cubes. The display acts as a single desktop, managed by a Barco Argus display controller, allowing operators to easily view 24 camera sources and graphical data. Barco's Apollo wall management software provides the opportunity to change the display wall content flexibly and interactively. The Whitlock Group also provided custom millwork bordering the Barco display wall and provided all audiovisual systems for an adjoining conference room.
The traffic monitoring system is installed in the new facility's 8,750 square foot operations center and is used to monitor traffic incidents and weather-related activities on the state’s highways. The new building is home to 1,400 employees, and offers the public a "One Stop" Center to conduct vehicle regulation transactions.
Barco's iTraffic solutions are used worldwide to rapidly dispatch emergency-response vehicles, anticipate traffic delays and divert traffic to alternate routes more efficiently in 24/7 operations.
