Barco and Vizrt collaborate to integrate best of breed backdrop solutions for the broadcast market
NAB, LAS VEGAS, Nevada, US, 16 April 2007 — Barco and Vizrt announced today that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on an integrated solution that offers unprecedented flexibility in designs for studios and sets in the broadcast market.
As part of the agreement, Barco and Vizrt will cooperate during the sales process through lead sharing, combined bids, and joint promotional activities. Both Vizrt and Barco have already completed the integration of Barco's displays and processors with Vizrt's 3D graphic renderer, Viz|Engine.
"The integration of our Viz|Video Wall ER technology with Barco's versatile display technology brings our shared clients the industry's most flexible solution for studio backdrop solutions." said Petter Ole Jakobsen, Corporate Technical Officer, Vizrt. "By bringing together these best-of-breed technologies, we are enabling our joint customers to be certain that their integration will go smoothly and that they get to realize the most presenter friendly and interactive solution for their studio set designs."
The combined Vizrt and Barco systems enable very high resolution backdrop outputs that allow the studio presenter to work more interactively with the displayed graphic materials on set. This is achieved by integrating the high resolution graphic outputs provided by Vizrt's with Barco's displays. In essence, this creates a much more flexible set design capable of inserting graphics and background scenes while maintaining the natural delivery and interactivity of the presenters.
"The integration of our processors and display technology with Vizrt's Viz|Video Wall ER technology is a natural fit." said Alain Solomon, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Barco Security & Monitoring Division. Mr Solomon continued, "Therefore, with this relationship, we can deliver more value to our joint customers and ensure high performance real time interoperability of the systems we deliver to our clients."
