Orsus and Barco Announce Partnership to Bring Situation Management and Modern Video Wall Technologies Together for a Comprehensive Visual Security Solution
Partners unite to transform Transnet Passenger and Freight Rail’s security in South Africa by integrating Orsus’ Situator Situation Management Software with Barco’s video wall systems

Together they recently synthesized technologies for a large project for Transnet Freight Rail, one of the largest international rail operators based in South Africa.
Under this new partnership, Situator™ from Orsus integrates with Barco's video wall systems providing systems integrators and end users with the opportunity to deploy state-of-the art video displays of various sizes beyond a typical flat screen monitor.

Situator offers a security Situation Management software platform that seamlessly integrates, synthesizes and prioritizes technological data from many sources and refines it into actionable tasks in both emergency and routine control room scenarios. A key element of Situator is the visual dashboard used by security personnel to pinpoint a problem on a map, view video, or manage a log of incidents.
Specific to the Transnet project, all data from the Situator product suite will be displayed on two large OV-D2 Barco video wall systems, measuring a total of 19-meters (62-foot), in Transnet's national nerve center in Johannesburg. Richard's Bay and Cape Town will each have a 7-meter (22-foot) system that will display the Situator dashboard, plus video camera feeds that will relay the most critical incidents.
Barco's state-of-the art video wall systems feature Sense6 technology that continuously measures luminance and color characteristics and adjusts the color space to provide an image that is most convenient for Transnet Freight Rail's control.

With the Transnet project, each section of the video wall will display a video matrix of a sector in the region that is under the responsibility of a specific operator. Additional information, representing a sector's situation awareness map and incident response procedures, are displayed when a sector is in emergency operation. In addition, it is also possible to call up Barco pre-defined layouts automatically or on-demand directly from Situator. These layouts represent pre-defined scene setups that correspond to various emergency and routine situations.
