Barco's iPresent backdrop gives a dynamic lift to Jiangsu Television

Beijing, CHINA, 16 April 2009 — Barco, a world leader in visualization and display solutions, has partnered with Jiangsu Television to launch the Nanjing-based broadcaster's new iPresent studio backdrop.

iPresent delivers innovative, high quality studio graphic and video capability, enhancing viewers' television experience.

Established in 1960, Jiangsu Television (JSTV) has four channels, delivering some 50 hours of programming daily. The largest television broadcaster in Jiangsu Province, its signals cover Jiangsu and parts of five adjacent provinces, reaching more than million viewers.

JSTV's new iPresent backdrop is located in the New Jiangsu Province Broadcasting and TV City in Nanjing. With its installation in the main New Studio, the new backdrop—measuring 8.4M wide x 2M tall—has become the largest interactive studio backdrop system in China.

JSTV's iPresent backdrop consists of a 6x2 configuration of Barco OV-D2 series modules. The OV-D2 integrates cutting edge DLP™ technology into 70" video wall systems that are designed and optimized for use in a 24/7 mission critical environment. Its high quality projection modules incorporate dual lamps with hot standby capability and deliver outstanding picture quality, reliability and ease of use.

iPresent is Barco's complete backdrop solution consisting of specifically adapted rear-projection modules, combined with a high performance show controller that allows broadcasters to use the wall as a high-quality alternative to a traditional onstage video wall or blue screen. iPresent is able to show a multitude of video and graphical windows and produces smooth transitions from one display wall layout into another.

Barco's OV-D2 series integrate cutting edge DLP™ technology into 70" video wall systems that are designed and optimized for use in a 24/7 mission critical environment. The Barco designed projection engine provides a set of unique features. The result is an unrivaled DLP™ rear projection-system with outstanding picture quality, reliability and ease of use.

“Barco's interactive backdrop system has proved to be a total success for us at Jiangsu TV successfully,” says Ma Yu, Deputy Director of News Center, Jiangsu Broadcasting and TV Station. “It's provided a new solution for news anchors and studio hosts to connect with the on-site news reporter via the large video backdrop system. This provides a smooth connection between the home studio and on-site reporting in an highly interactive way that engages viewers.”

“As television broadcasting rapidly improves in its content and technology across China, a number of television stations have chose Barco solutions to enhance their capability and put them ahead of the competition,” says Frank Christiaens, President of Barco China. “We're proud to welcome Jiangsu TV to this select group. Their teaming with us stands as a symbol of Barco's innovative drive to be a product leader in serving the broadcast industry in both China and around the world.”
