Turner Broadcasting Chooses BARCO for New, All-Digital Network Operations Facility in Atlanta

BARCO Control Rooms provides state-of-the-art broadcast solution for Turner’s new television operations center for a total value of USD 2.4 million

Kuurne, September 26, 2002 - BARCO Control Rooms announced that it has provided state-of-the-art digital control room display solutions for Turner Broadcasting’s newest operations facility in Atlanta. Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., an AOL Time Warner company, is a major producer of news and entertainment products around the world and the leading provider of programming for the basic cable industry. BARCO provided 50 iSTUDIO display systems to be used in the Turner Entertainment Networks’ master control rooms for monitoring all network air functions. The contract has a value of USD 2.4 million. It is further proof of the success BARCO experiences in the new markets where it has introduced its Control Rooms concept as the perfect solution for customers’ needs.

TBS, Inc. officially opened the doors to the new Network Operations Center on June 25, 2002. Turner’s Network Operations facility is the largest all-digital facility of its kind and provides wide-ranging 24-hour functional support for the Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.’s Entertainment Networks as well as nine Latin American networks. The Networks Operations Center, comprising six floors and totaling 198,000 gross square feet, is the new home of the Broadcast Operations Centers for all existing and future networks.

BARCO's iSTUDIO is currently the most advanced display solution for managed monitoring. It consists of a high-quality display with rear-screen projection, a graphic controller, and Web-based operating software. One projection module can display up to 30 video or audio windows simultaneously. Two or more modules can be combined into a huge display wall to monitor dozens of signals. iSTUDIO acts as a single point of control and includes advanced warning capabilities.
