ABB orders Barco display walls for the central control rooms of Vattenfall’s Jänschwalde power plant
For a total amount of over 1 million Euro, Vattenfall´s KW Jänschwalde plant chose Barco’s iUtilities display solutions as part of the retrofit of the installed control system in order to optimize and improve the entire process of power generation. Barco’s display walls and controlware will be integrated into ABB’s MMI Maestro UX to be installed in three central control rooms at KW Jänschwalde.
The German power plant "KW Jänschwalde" is one of Europe’s largest lignite plant providing a maximum output of more than 3.000 Megawatt. The plant is owned and operated by Vattenfall Europe, the new German group that was created in August 2002 by incorporating Bewag, HEW, VEAG, and LAUBAG. Vattenfall Europe AG is currently the third largest electricity company in Germany and a Barco customer in several German power plants and lignite surface mining plants.The specific configuration at KW Jänschwalde incorporates 3-panel LCD technology. All Barco's iUtilities systems are especially designed for control centers with focus on high display quality, 24/7 operation, easy integration and feature guaranteed servicing and availability of components and support over product lifetime. Barco’s controlware was selected because it typically facilitates efficient integration in existing IT infrastructures as it is based on standard hardware and operating systems and seamlessly integrates with ABB’s Maestro UX.
