HDF-W26 projectors shine exceptionally bright lights over new Volkswagen Golf VII

Light is life, light is energy, light is able to speak all languages of the world and light connects people,” said Birgit Zander, founder of the Berlin Festival of Lights. Since 2005, Berlin’s world-famous landmarks and monuments have been dressed in spectacular light every October, for twelve days. One of the world’s biggest illumination festivals, the Berlin Festival of Lights attracts masses of native Berliners and visitors from Germany and abroad to enjoy the enlightening atmosphere.

A particularly eye-catching projection mapping project during the 2012 edition was sponsored by Volkswagen: the German carmaker promoted its recently launched VW Golf VII on the façade of the prestigious hotel Adlon. Powering the impressive projection were eight of Barco’s ultra-bright HDF-W26 projectors – a first for Germany - in a Soft Edge 2x4 set-up. Barco’s proprietary Optical Soft Edge Matching was used to maintain the black level in the overlap zone to that of the separate images. XL Video Germany took care of the installation.

“A few months ago we expanded our range of projector products with 44 Barco HDF-W26 projectors, as one of the first AV suppliers in the world. With their 26,000 lumens light output, these projectors set a new standard in brightness,” said Marco Scholwin, Operations Manager at XL Video Germany. “The set-up in Berlin perfectly met our high expectations of brightness, ease-of-use and reliability. And, most importantly, our customer too was very happy with the brilliance and brightness of the installation.”
