Ensuring a vibrant projection in London’s Roundhouse

Chinese electronics giant Huawei considers its ultra-thin and powerful Ascend P6 smartphone to be the star of its smartphone range. Consequently, its introduction into the European market deserved a more than eye-catching, memorable event.

Huawei joined forces with creative event agency Uniplan of Hong Kong to work out a stunning show at the iconic Roundhouse in London. Uniplan designed an immersive 180-degree projection onto gauze, which was followed by a reveal at the end of the presentation to give attendees access to the experiential area behind. Production company Imagine Believe helped produce the launch event, while XL Events designed the video and delivered the required technology for the show.

The main challenge of working in London’s Roundhouse is to ensure that the images blend on screen whilst taking into account the pillars around the center of the building that support the circular structure. Barco’s 12 FLM-HD20 projectors were up to the job. They helped create a crystal-clear, multi-screen blended projection of brand logos and demo footage.

The vibrant projection around the circular venue was the perfect introduction for Huawei’s new smartphone. “With only an eight week lead time from first briefing to show day, this was a challenging event,” commented XL’s Mark Rooney. “The show went smoothly, producing an amazing end result.”
