The Vancouver Aquarium is a recognized leader in connecting people to the natural world. Its vision: a sustainable world, where aquatic life is diverse and flourishing. One new way it’s engaging visitors is by welcoming them with a brand new exhibit in the Teck Connections Gallery, which serves as the entrance to the venue. The star attraction: “Connections 360” - a fully immersive, 360-degree, high-definition water experience powered by seven large-venue Barco projectors. The exhibit comprises a 185+-foot-wide screen powered by 140,000 lumens from seven Barco HDX-W20 FLEX projectors, supplied by Barco’s Entertainment distributor, SC Media Canada.
As visitors enter the Aquarium, they are immersed into a surreal aquatic world, which sets the stage for connecting with stories of marine habitats, the water cycle and the region’s pristine waterways.

The screens are an integral and powerful part of the space, creating the heart and mood of whatever story is begin shared.

“We wanted the immersive projection to create that ‘first exhale’ when visitors enter the gallery and we certainly succeeded!” comments Jeff Heywood, Director of Content and Digital Experience for the Vancouver Aquarium.
