BARCO Launches PCI Video Mixer Product Line
CHERTSEY, UK, September 14, 1999 -- At the Defense Systems & Equipment International Exhibition & Conference, September 14-17, 1999, BARCO Display Systems launches the high-performance PMX single-slot PCI video mixer board. This new commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) PMX graphics controller product line mixes radar and video images with external graphics into a single RGB video output with a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200.
The unique digital mixing capability of the PMX avoids artifacts and provides the flexibility to define colors for chroma keying and transparency. BARCO’s PMX also allows video channels to be split into overlay and underlay planes and can select up to five different video sources. The PMX boards have a connector that enables them to connect to BARCO’s new PCI PVX video digitizer board. Up to three PVX boards can be connected to the PMX, which offers the possibility to further expand the number of video windows to seven.BARCO has also developed an open radar interface for radar scan converters. Enhanced Indexed Auxiliary Video Interface (EIAVI) allows radar scan data to be inserted into the graphics display by any compliant radar scan converter, with absolutely no degradation in graphics performance. BARCO’s new RX 1000 single-slot PCI Radar Scan Converter is supported by the PMX utilizing this interface.
The PMX Video Mixer product line supports Windows NT and the X-windows X11 R6 standard. Software libraries and a Graphical User Interface (GUI) are provided for video windowing and frame grabbing.
