BARCO Introduces VME Video Cross Bar For High Performance Video Switching
KORTRIJK, BELGIUM, 2 July, 1998 -- BARCO Display Systems announces the availability of a high performance single-slot 6U VME video cross bar board (VCB) that will switch any of twenty-five video inputs to any of five video outputs. The BARCO VCB has a high bandwidth of 180 MHz and can switch RGB video signals up to a resolution of 1600 x 1200.
The BARCO Video Cross Bar is ideal for utilization as a video multi-plexer for applications such as surveillance, command centers and process control rooms. The VCB is especially valuable for connecting the RGB output of multiple workstations to one central hardcopy or recording device. Another application is the use of the VCB as a front-end board to connect a large number of video sources that can be selected for display on a display monitor or video mixer. The BARCO VCB also has the capability of adding video redundancy to multiple console systems, and is configured with a unique smart switch, which remembers any previous code settings during the CPU power-up.
Since VME interface logic is available on the card itself, the BARCO video crossbar can easily be integrated into any 6U VME chassis and can be controlled through the central CPU. Video Buffers and video output amplifiers are utilized to maintain signal levels over the video bandwidth. The VCB also has a microcontroller with an RS-232 serial interface so that any computer or terminal with RS-232 can control the BARCO VCB through a simple command structure.
The VCB is one of many new video products within the BARCO FlexiVision series of 6U VME cards for high performance video mixing and manipulation.
