Barco launches VISTA 4000 Modular COTS console with 28” 2K x 2K rugged flat display
Le Bourget, France, 16 June, 2003 – At this year’s Paris Air Show, Barco is pleased to present the latest variant of its modular VISTA 4000 COTS console family, featuring Barco’s 28” 2K x 2K rugged flat panel display. With this new VISTA 4000 2K console, Barco markets a truly unique large area visualization solution for operational decision-making in a variety of Command and Control applications.
Barco’s VISTA 4000 consoles combine a solid Base Unit with an ergonomic, user-friendly Human Machine Interface. This split design offers extreme flexibility and can be adapted to the user and platform interfacing requirements. To customize the VISTA 4000 series for a wide range of applications, three different Base Units are available: a full-blown cabinet with integrated VME or PCI processing functionality, a rack base for integration of 19 inch rack mountable equipment or a rugged pedestal only. The Human Machine Interface offers a modular/tiltable/removable/configurable desktop unit including keyboard, trackball, optional joystick, function keys and audio intercom. Thanks to its modular design, the VISTA 4000 can house a vast range of flat panel displays (18", 21”, 24" or 28”) in combination with an optional 10" color LCD Touch Input Device.The new VISTA 4000 2K console presented at the Paris Air Show houses Barco's FD 471, a rugged 28" 2K x 2K LCD display, providing an ergonomic, light-weight solution for military ATC applications and C4I operational decision-making platforms. The rugged LCD displays images with a resolution of 2048 x 2048 and features Barco's unique APA (Automatic Phase Adjust) functionality to eliminate image artifacts (e.g. pixel noise). Barco’s high-bright 28” panel shows more detailed information, offers enhanced user comfort and counteracts eye fatigue. Its low weight, low power consumption, small volume and high brightness allow console designers a new degree of freedom to reduce costs and improve operator comfort and performance.
