Alvis Hägglunds orders Barco’s PVM118 7” display systems to be used in the CV90 armoured vehicle
DSEI, LONDON, UK, 10 September 2003 – Barco has received a first order from Alvis Hägglunds, Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, a supplier of Combat and All-Terrain Vehicles, for the delivery of PVM118 7” display systems. Barco’s PVM118 will be used for observation purposes in the CV90 armoured vehicle by the Norwegian armed forces.
The PVM118 will be used on board the CV90 as a rear view display for driver positions. Thanks to its 16:9 landscape format and image mirroring function, the display gives drivers a very familiar, natural view, resembling a rear view mirror. For use in the CV90, Barco’s PVM118 was customized in close cooperation with Alvis Hägglunds: the display and video-capturing camera are automatically activated by the vehicle when put into reverse.Barco’s PVM118, with dual video input functionality for observation purposes, accepts a wide range of video standards, including PAL/NTSC and thermal imaging timings (STANAG 3350 B/C). It is compatible with many direct viewing systems and presents optimum panoramic view. Barco’s PVM118 displays images in W-VGA resolution (854 x 480). It has been designed to meet the MIL-standards. The 7” display system is equipped with one serial communication port.
The PVM118 is part of the BARCO VECTOR® product line. The BARCO VECTOR® products are reliable, high-performance display solutions (7”, 10” and 12”) for operational decision making. BARCO VECTOR® display systems have been designed for observation and visualization on a broad range of armoured vehicles. They combine video camera images with standard text on-screen display, as well as graphics overlay created by a powerful symbol generator.
Alvis Hägglunds will be receiving deliveries in November and December 2003.
