BARCO Selected for Ericsson’s Artillery Hunting Radar Project
WASHINGTON, DC, October 13th, 1997 -- BARCO Display Systems has been awarded a contract worth over a half million dollars by Ericsson, Norway to provide a series of Multi-Purpose Rugged Displays for integration in Ericsson’s ARTillery HUnting Radar (ARTHUR) Project.
BARCO will supply high resolution Multi-Purpose Rugged Displays (MPRD 9651) to be integrated in an undisclosable number of vehicles for Ericsson’s ARTHUR Artillery Hunting Radar project, which is a state-of-the-art ground vehicle system based on the well-known Ericsson C-band radar technology.Ericsson selected BARCO’s MPRD 9651 because it met the stringent shock, temperature and vibration environmental requirements for the ARTHUR ground vehicle, while still maintaining an extremely compact, rugged package.
The ground vehicles are targeted for the Swedish and Norwegian Ministries of Defense, and will be utilized by the Armed Forces of both countries together with other sophisticated artillery equipment, as part of an integrated artillery fire control solution.
