BARCO Chosen by ITT GILFILLAN for Radar Display System Integration
WASHINGTON, DC,September 29, 1997 -- BARCO Display Systems has been awarded a significant contract by ITT GILFILLAN, Van Nuys, California, to supply displays, graphics controllers, and software development, and to provide system integration capability for the upgraded ADD Falcon Radar Display Terminal.
The ITT GILFILLAN ADD Falcon Radar Display Terminal is an air defense support system that is being upgraded to emulate and display radar data that is currently being processed by Ericsson stroke writer monitors. The functionality of the ADD Falcon radar is to perform as a coastal defense radar or range safety radar providing low level air and sea surveillance in support of off-shore operations or as a gap filler radar providing low level air surveillance in support of air defense operations.The contract includes the purchase of BARCO’s new high performance Galaxy workstations with BARCO’s recently introduced PCI 4700 (2048 x 1536 resolution) and PCI 1602 (1600 x 1200 resolution) graphics controllers, and BARCO’s 29 inch MegaCalibrator high resolution displays.
BARCO will totally integrate all hardware and develop the necessary software to provide ITT with a completely seamless emulation of the Ericsson radar processing technology.
Completion and shipment of the upgraded ADD Falcon Radar system is scheduled for October, 1997.
