BARCO Premieres Next Generation 2K x 2K PCI Graphics Controller
LE BOURGET, PARIS, June 15th, 1997 -- BARCO Display Systems, Chromatics division, introduces the PCI 2K resolution single slot, PCI graphics controller at the Paris Air Show, June 15-22, 1997. BARCO’s new generation PCI 4700 graphics controller generates high resolution, X-windows graphics for workstations and PC’s with PCI bus support and is ideally suited for real-time applications such as air traffic control and air defense.
Host support for the PCI 4700 includes Sun UltraSPARC, Pentium PC, and DEC AlphaPCI workstations. Supported operating systems are Sun Solaris 2.5 and DEC UNIX 4.0. The PCI 4700 controller also has an option for three hardware cursors which provides multiple input device support without visual artifacts or sacrificing rendering performance.
The PCI 4700 is the only controller with up to 32 Mbyte of off-screen memory for pixmap accelaration.
The X-Windows software of the new PCI 4700 provides the capability to record and playback displayed air traffic/air defense information in real-time which can be utilized for system safety to provide immediate event analysis and to support operational training.
The new BARCO Chromatics PCI 4700 was recently selected for the Microprocessor Enroute Automated Radar Tracking System (Micro-EARTS) controller workstation, which is a very advanced terminal and en route air traffic management system which is nationally certified and operationally deployed by the Federal Aviation Administration.
