BARCO Launches ConaN User-Configurable Rugged Flat Panel Workstation

WASHINGTON, DC, April 18, 2000 -- BARCO Display Systems premieres ConaN, a modular user-configurable rugged flat panel-based workstation for use in a wide variety of C4I-SR applications at the Sea Air Space Exhibition, April 18-20, 2000. BARCO’s modular ConaN workstation consists of an integrated display head, computing enclosure and up/downward tiltable operator desk that can be equipped with an optional 10" flat panel display. The unit, which is capable of being either bulkhead or desktop-mounted is designed for command and control applications in severe environmental conditions.

Users can select from BARCO’s rugged LCD’s, ranging from 18.1" to 21.3". BARCO also offers a qualified workstation with a pre-selected set of processing cards and mass storage devices, or users have the flexibility of choosing their own cards, mass storage components, customized indicator light switches, and can even configure the connector panel on the backside of the workstation.

The up/downward tiltable operator desk of the ConaN is designed for rapid deployment and utilization in confined spaces, such as tactical operation centers in ground shelters. It takes only a few seconds to unlock the desk and set it up for operation. If the workstation is located in a space-restricted area, the operator desk can also be easily folded down in a full operational "stand-by" mode. The operator desk 10" color flat panel display can be configured with a touch input device, video camera input, RGB or X-terminal interface.

The ConaN workstation significantly reduces design time, which results in lower costs for both system integrators and end users. The BARCO ConanN is also available with its own protective shipping case, which is suitable for rapid delivery and deployment.
