BARCO Introduces Modular Rugged Flat Display
LE BOURGET, 19 June, 2000 -- At this year's Eurosatory exhibition, BARCO Display Systems introduces its Modular Rugged Flat Display (MRFD) range of rugged flat panels. BARCO's MRFD has been designed for highly demanding landbased, airborne, and naval C4I-SR applications that require the viewing of graphics, video and other RGB data on a single display
BARCO's new MRFD range allows users to select their preferred LCD size, resolution and video processing functionality from BARCO's COTS offering. The video processing capability, which is incorporated in the MRFD, results in a very economical solution for image overlay and mixing, with no need for separate graphics cards to be installed. The split design of the MRFD range combines a Panel Module (LCD module) and a Video Control Module, connected via a single cable interface, the BARCO Intermodule Link (BIL).
The Panel Module displays camera images, radar data and RGB-graphics combined into the Video Control Module. Various panel sizes will be available, up to 21.3 inch, with resolutions up to UXGA.
The Video Control Module is a modular electronics box that provides the interface with the user's hardware and the Panel Module. The board slots of the Video Control Module (sizes available are single, dual and triple height) are populated to each customer's desired configuration. The basic configuration consists of a Power Supply Board and the Interface Mother Board. Functionality can be added to this basic configuration with boards for video capture, radar overlay and RGB / Digital input. When space is restricted or for use in 19" racks, the Video Control Module can be mounted to the Panel Module.
