Thomson-CSF Optronique Selects BARCO for Reconnaissance System Margot
LE BOURGET, 19 June, 2000 -- BARCO Display Systems has been selected by Thomson-CSF-Optronique, Guyancourt, France, for the supply of its Vetronics Flat Panel Display System, the BARCO Vector. BARCO Vector will be used as the visualization tool for the integrated observation system that is being developed by Thomson-CSF Optronique.
Thomson-CSF Optronique has chosen BARCO Vector as a console for one MARGOT surveillance system based upon the SOPHIE thermal imager. The BARCO Vector system that has been selected by Thomson-CSF Optronique, is a hand-held terminal, combining a 10" Panel Module (PM126) with a Video Control Module (VCM101). The VCM101 functions as an intelligent electronics box which performs the tasks of remote operation for the SOPHIE thermal imager, the daylight camera, the laser range finder and the pan & tilt platform. The whole product comes as a lightweight stand-alone and user friendly surveillance and localization system. BARCO Vector has been especially designed for observation and visualization purposes. It combines video camera input with standard text On-Screen Display, as well as graphics overlay created by a powerful Symbol Generator. For this observation application, both the Panel Module and the Video Control Module are mounted together in a light-weight, composite material, ruggedized housing. A first series of BARCO Vector units will be shipped to Thomson's subsidiary Pilkington by mid July 2000. Pilkington will integrate the BARCO Vector flat panel display system into their integrated observation system.About BarcoView:
