BARCO Awarded Contract for Switzerland's FLORAKO Program
ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY, October 24, 2000 -- BarcoView has been awarded a contract by The Raytheon Company, Fullerton, California, to supply high-performance PCI graphics controllers for Switzerland's FLORAKO program. Raytheon will integrate BARCO's PVS 5600M with a HP C360 computer driving Sony's 20" x 20" high-resolution color display as part of the FLORAKO Operational Display Console (ODC).
The FLORAKO program will provide a new high-performance air defense and airspace management for military air defense command and control centers located in Switzerland. Raytheon selected the BARCO PVS 5600M because the PCI controller was technically superior, providing 32 Mb of memory, and record and playback capability. The PVS 5600M is also designed so that it can be modified to meet unique customer-specific technical requirements as requested by the FLORAKO program office.The BARCO PVS 5600M is a high-performance single-slot PCI graphics controller that supports a very large rendering surface with a display resolution of up to 2048 x 2048. The architecture provides support for three independent color planes: overlay, underlay and super overlay. Besides the HP C360 CPU, the PVS 5600M interfaces to other hosts including Pentium, Sparc and COMPAQ and supports the X-windows standard X11R6 and NT operating systems.
Raytheon is expected to receive delivery of the BARCO's PVS 5600M graphics controllers by January 2001.
