BARCO's Graphics Controllers Selected for Lockheed Martin's Automated Radar Terminal System (ARTS) Color Display
ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY, October 24, 2000 -- BarcoView has been selected by Lockheed Martin, Rockville, Maryland, to supply high-performance graphics controllers with radar and video mixing capability for the new Automated Radar Terminal System (ARTS) Color Display. Lockheed is interfacing BARCO's VPCI 5605 controllers to Motorola processors and Sony's 20" x 20" high-resolution color monitors.
The BARCO VPCI 5605 is a VME single-slot graphics controller that displays resolutions up to 2048 x 2048 and has the capability of interfacing to high-resolution radar scan converters. The VPCI 5605 supports three independent 8-bit color planes: overlay, underlay and super overlay. This multi-layer architecture enables the display of map data, which can be placed underneath the radar image in the underlay, weather imagery in the overlay and track data and menus in the super overlay. The VPCI 5605 supports the X-windows standard X11R6 software.Lockheed selected the VPCI 5605 product because of its powerful graphics and integrated radar/video display capability. The ability for BARCO to meet critical delivery schedules was also a key decision issue.
