BARCO Teams up with Belairbus to Participate in A3XX Program
KORTRIJK, BELGIUM, 9 April, 1998 -- BARCO Display Systems joins Belairbus in a strategic partnership to get the participation in the development and the production of the A3XX, the superjumbo of Airbus, which is to become the world’s largest passenger airplane.
With its Avionics division, BARCO Display Systems intends to expand its activities to the civil aviation market, in which Airbus Industries is an important potential customer. As Belairbus is the official contact for the Belgian aviation industry towards Airbus Industries, it was a necessity to create a formal relationship between BARCO and Belairbus.With this partnership, BARCO underlines its strategy to further develop its activities in the aviation market, with an innovative avionics concept and product range, which is currently being designed. With an extensive range of displays and CDU’s, BARCO focuses on the principles of products with open and modular architecture.
BARCO Display Systems manufactures a.o. control display units (CDU’s) for the cockpits of fixed and rotary wing aricraft. BARCO has been supplying equipment for the C-130 H, C-130 J, P3 Orion, Cougar, Gazelle, F16, Lynx, and Nimrod, to name but a few.
