BARCO and Tracor Aerospace Announce Strategic Alliance Agreement
KORTRIJK, BELGIUM / ATLANTA, USA, 7 May 1998 -- BARCO Display Systems and Tracor Aerospace, Inc., (Austin, TX) announced a strategic alliance combining BARCO’s complete product line of avionic multi-function and control display units with Tracor’s proven systems integration capabilities. BARCO’s line of full color AMLCD products ranging from 5” to 20” diagonal will be integrated into a wide range of military and civil display systems. This will also include BARCO’s new product offering, a portrait mode 6” x 8” primary flight display.
“This significant alliance between BARCO and Tracor will allow both companies to establish a mutually beneficial relationship to further develop their respective technologies by aggressively pursuing potential defense and civil business opportunities,” said Tim Cantrell, Director of Programs and New Business Development, BARCO Display Systems.The strategic teaming of both companies will combine BARCO’s 60 years of technological experience in the design of ruggedized military avionics and displays with Tracor’s extensive experience in aircraft modification, avionics design, electronic countermeasures, and electronic warfare manufacturing of high-quality systems. This alliance will provide Tracor with opportunities for the integration of BARCO flat panel displays into many existing and new pursuits for aircraft, ground vehicle, and shipboard modification programs.
