BARCO Selected by Daimler Benz Aerospace for German Air Force SAMOC Project
KORTRIJK, BELGIUM, 6 August, 1998 -- BARCO Display Systems has been selected by Daimler Benz Aerospace (DASA) to provide RFD251 Rugged Flat Panel Displays, for integration in the Surface to Air Missiles Operations Center (SAMOC) for the German Air Force.
With the supply of over 25 Rugged Flat Panels to Daimler Benz Aerospace (DASA), BARCO gains one of the first major European 20.1 inch rugged flat panel contract. This is not only an important international reference, but it also is the starting point of a future potential of a large number of flat panels, to be supplied over the coming years. The SAMOC Center is a series of shelters, which are linked to each other and includes consoles with dual BARCO 20.1 inch rugged flat panels. The BARCO LCDs will display critical tactical data such as troop movement, threat situation analysis and vital communication and planning information.
The total future project will contain six entities, all requiring dual-screen consoles to be integrated in various shelters, which offers a potential for BARCO to supply large quantities of flat panels over the coming years.
DASA selected BARCO’s 20.1 inch RFD251 because of its unique 19 inch rack-mountable rugged design concept. The RFD251 accepts both video and graphics signals, and easily adapts to customer-specific requirements. In addition, the RFD251 provides the user with a large image surface and an exceptional viewing angle in all directions.
Moreover, BARCO Display Systems is highly respected in Germany for its display solutions in rugged environments.
