BARCO’s Rugged Displays Selected for NIMROD Central Tactical System
FARNBOROUGH, UK, 10 September, 1998 -- BARCO Display Systems has been selected by Marconi Electronic Systems, Avionics Group, Rochester, Kent, to supply 45 multi-purpose rugged color displays MPRD 9651 for the Nimrod MR Mk2 Central Tactical System (CTS) Obsolete Display Replacement program.
The Avionics Group will replace the current 23” monochrome cursive displays with BARCO’s MPRD 9651 rugged color monitors to display tactical situation information during the aircraft’s maritime operations.The BARCO MPRD 9651 monitors were chosen because of the ability to display extremely sharp, clear images, meet stringent NIMROD airborne environmental requirements and provide a convenient color replacement for the older displays. Slightly smaller MPRD 9639 displays are already in-service on this aircraft.
Marconi is currently accepting shipments of the BARCO MPRD 9651 displays for the modification of 24 Nimrod aircraft, together with various ground installations and spares.
