Barco's lightweight rugged displays chosen by Selex Sistemi Integrati for new Combat Management System
EURONAVAL, Le Bourget, France, 23 October 2006 - Barco's new 20-inch lightweight rugged displays have been selected by Selex Sistemi Integrati S.p.A., Roma, Italy, a Finmeccanica company. Barco's TL-351 displays will be integrated into the new Combat Management System (CMS) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Navy's Corvette vessels. For many years, Barco has been the preferred supplier of rugged display technology for the CMS program. With the delivery of Barco's new-generation rugged displays, Barco shows that it is ready for future technology evolutions of the CMS architecture.
The Selex Sistemi Integrati CMS gathers, correlates and filters data and information coming from naval vessels and co-operating forces sensors and compiles, maintains and clearly displays the tactical situation.For the CMS upgrade, the Italian company chose Barco's TL-351, a 20-inch, 1600 x 1200, lightweight and rugged display that is ideal for use in all applications where space and weight are critical. The TL-351 features first-class Active Matrix LCD technology, providing excellent performance in terms of brightness, crispness, contrast and viewing angle. Barco's TL display series comes in a wide variety of bezel configurations and mounting options, and offers system integrators a display solution with an excellent price-performance ratio.
Barco is able to present a considerable delivery history for the CMS program. In 2004, Barco's 20-inch, 1280 x 1024 Modular Rugged Flat Displays (MRFD-251) were chosen by Selex Sistemi Integrati for the CMS of the Italian and French Horizon class frigates. In 2005, Barco's 20-inch, 1600 x1200 MRFD-351 displays were chosen for the CMS of the new Italian aircraft carrier Cavour.
The first TL-351 displays have been delivered to Selex Sistemi Integrati in September 2006.
