Barco enhances family of Modular Rugged Display Stations with latest graphics and computing performance
DSEI, LONDON, UK – 11 September 2007 - Barco, a leader in display and visualization solutions for selected professional markets, has enhanced its family of Modular Rugged Display Stations (MRDS) with a second-generation Display Processing Module (DPM-2). The new DPM delivers the latest in graphics and computing performance all integrated into a very compact and fully rugged package.
Barco’s MRDS family combines a state-of-the-art DPM with a full range of rugged displays already developed and proven in military applications worldwide. The MRDS has been designed to perform in the most demanding environments, ranging from armored vehicles, shelters and aircrafts to submarines and surface ships.Barco's second-generation DPM-2 allows to display and process information according to the latest graphics and computing performance standards. The DPM-2 features high-quality, PCI Express graphics and video input capabilities, technology insertion with the latest Intel processors, and high-performance Flash technology. With the new DPM-2 processing module, Barco brings a unique combination of advanced graphics and computing power, high-performance ruggedization and compactness, which is essential for applications where space is critical.
Barco's first-generation DPM-1 processing module, which is still part of the MRDS family and available for sales, consists of a variety of predefined configurations to meet a wide range of customer applications. The processing module includes network, peripheral and sensor interfaces, extended storage media, and uninterruptible power supply capabilities, while providing state-of-the-art computing capabilities.
Bringing all of the benefits of modularity and integrated processing together, the MRDS family offers a full range of display station solutions ranging from 10” to 21”, with resolutions from 800x600 to 1920x1200. Optional functions are available on most MRDS configurations including video, high-brightness, Night Vision Goggle (NVG) compatibility, touch screen, low dimming, and connection I/O.

Barco will be showcasing its latest MRDS family at this year’s DSEI exhibition, from 11 to 14 September 2007, at the ExCeL exhibition center in London, at booth #1135. The enhanced MRDS is already available for sales.
