Barco Presents Technology Demonstrator of Altium 4000 Rugged Computer
EUROSATORY, Villepinte, France - At this year’s Eurosatory exhibition, Barco presents the Altium 4000 Technology Demonstrator. This multi-functional rugged computer, for use in extreme environmental conditions, bundles modularity, connectivity and performance into a MIL-tailored computing solution for battlefield digitization.
Barco’s Altium 4000 has been designed for control applications that require high computing powerThe unit will be typically used in screenless control applications, for upgrades of existing visualization systems or in combination with an observation display system, where a single screen is shared for graphics control and camera observation.Altium 4000 presents integrators with a flexible solution that is further customized to specific user requirements on a project basis. The unit’s flexible design offers unprecedented customization options, with room for functionality expansion and technology upgrades (e.g; PC 104 or PCM/CIA cards can be added).Altium’s modular concept offers a wide range of I/O options for project-specific configuration (up to 8 high-density rugged connectors including USB, VGA, serial ports, parallel ports and antenna inputs). To keep up with today’s rapid technology evolution, the Altium 4000 features Barco’s TIME (Technology Insertion Module for Evolution).TIME allows for easy upgrading of the processing module (processor, chipset,…) and keeps the Altium rugged computer up-to-date with future technological developments without the need of going through a new qualification cycle.
