BARCO Receives Significant Order from STN Atlas
EUROSATORY, Villepinte, France - BarcoView has been selected by STN Atlas, Germany, to supply a large series of modular 18” flat panel displays (MFD 246) to be used in the German KZO (Kleinfluggerät für Zielortung) UAV Project. The 18” Flat Panel Displays combine a front bonded Display Module (DM246) and a Display Control Module (DCM000S). STN Atlas has selected Barco’s rugged 18” Flat Panel for “its excellent video display performances”, required in UAV visualization applications. Barco is especially proud to confirm its position as a reliable partner to the STN Atlas UAV division following major flat panel deliveries to the Naval division.
The KZO system is designed to be the state of the art UAV system in Europe and requires a high-end LCD display to provide the necessary video performance in the command ground station. Each ground station will be equipped with two 18” MFD’s, which will function as the system’s main visualization displays.Barco’s Modular Rugged Flat Panel Display (MRFD) Family has been designed for highly demanding C4I applications that require the viewing of graphics, video and other RGB data on a single display. It allows customers to select the best “fit-for-application”-display with respect to LCD , resolution and video processing functionality. The video processing capability, which is incorporated in the MFD, results in a very economical solution for image overlay and mixing, with no need for separate graphics cards to be installed.STN Atlas will receive a first batch of 20 displays before the end of 2002. Additional series are scheduled to be delivered in 2004.
