BARCO Vetronics Display System Selected by ULTRA Electronics for Engineer Tank System
EUROSATORY, Villepinte, France - BarcoView has been selected by Ultra Electronics, UK, to supply its Vetronics 10” flat panel display system in support of the British Engineer Tank System (“ETS”). Barco’s Vector®LCD panels will be integrated in 66 specialist Engineer Tank System vehicles, comprising 33 obstacle-clearing Trojan vehicles and 33 Titan bridge-layers, manufactured by Vickers Defence Systems. Delivery of the series production will start in 2004 and complete in 2006.
The Barco Vector® system that will be supplied to Ultra consists of three crew station LCD panels, which will be linked to the ULTRA IVS (Indirect Vision System), and offers a complete visualization solution for the commander, driver and operator position. In an initial phase of the contract, pre series will be finished and delivered by mid 2003. First deliveries of the series production will start in 2004 and will be completed by 2006.The Barco Vector® display system is especially designed for observation and visualization on board armored vehicles and combines a Panel Module (7”, 10” or 12” display) with a Video Control Module (VCM). Barco Vector® combines video camera images with a standard text On-Screen Display and graphics overlay created by a powerful Symbol Generator. By means of the ActEv HMI Toolbox (Barco’s HMI Software Development), Ultra’s desired functionality will be easily implemented into the Barco Vector® display system. ActEv’s user-friendliness and early end-user involvement will allow a rapid HMI development and swift modifications during the trial periods.
