BARCO Wins Major Contract from Skyguide with ISIS LCD Main Display for the Upgrade of Swiss ATC System
ATCA, Washington, D.C. - BarcoView signed a major frame contract with Skyguide (former Swisscontrol), Switzerland, to supply an initial quantity of 70 ISIS 2K x 2K, 28" Flat Panel LCD main displays for Switzerland's Air Traffic Control System upgrade of the Zurich and Geneva control centers. Skyguide, responsible for ensuring the safety of air traffic in Switzerland's airspace, has chosen Barco's unique ISIS square flat panel 28" LCD main display because of its high optical performance in life-critical and demanding aerospace applications and because of its low lifecycle cost.
Barco's unique ISIS 28" LCD main display was chosen for its high-performance image quality and its low lifecycle cost (four shop-replaceable backlight trays considerably reducing console down-time) and because it is fully compatible with the worldwide de facto ATC standard 20" x 20" square format. Moreover, the 4 MegaPixel ISIS displays (resolution of 2048 x 2048) can easily be integrated into both new and existing ATC Controller Working Positions.Since its launch in October 2000, major Aviation Authorities and system integrators have received evaluation units of Barco's ISIS LCD main display for their certification process. Several recently signed contracts (Skyguide, DFS GmbH and Alenia Marconi ATMAS Division) clearly confirm that the advanced ISIS technology meets the specifications imposed by the worldwide ATC community and offers enormous potential for use in life-critical applications.Skyguide will begin to receive first deliveries in November 2001. Additional substantial orders from Skyguide might follow over the next 5 years.
