Sagem signs contract with Barco for CHDD-5.4/1 Cockpit Head Down Displays
KORTRIJK, BELGIUM, 3 September 2003 – Barco has been awarded a contract by Sagem SA Aerospace and Defence Division, France, for the delivery of CHDD-5.4/1 Cockpit Head Down Displays, to be used for cockpit upgrades of several military fixed wing and helicopter applications worldwide.
Barco's CHDD-5.4/1 is a digital video-only Cockpit Head Down Display that can be used as Primary Flight Display in combination with an external symbol generator. The avionics display features a sunlight-readable 5" x 4" Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display (AMLCD) and conforms to NVIS B standards. This technology provides high brightness, excellent contrast and reduced volume with low power consumption. Several bezel options are available allowing the CHDD-5.4/1 to fit into various avionics architectures for both new and retrofit aircraft.The CHDD is available in two sizes, 4” x 5” or 6” x 8”, both supporting analog and digital video. Sagem SA Aerospace and Defence Division opted for Barco’s single-box CHDD-5.4/1 configuration. The units feature two analog video inputs and are fully compliant for night vision (NVIS B) applications. The keyboards are custom designed.
Deliveries will start at the end of the year with final shipments to be finished in 2004.
