Barco signs major maintenance contract with EUROCONTROL
Barco signs renewable 5 years ODS TOOLBOX® maintenance contract with EUROCONTROL for Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre
KORTRIJK, BELGIUM, 25 September 2003 – Barco has been awarded a major contract by EUROCONTROL covering support and maintenance of Barco Orthogon’s ODS TOOLBOXÒ software at the Upper Area Control Centre (UAC) in Maastricht over the next five years. The maintenance contract guarantees prompt reaction times, a sophisticated help desk system and provision of a software release scheme suited to the operational needs of the Maastricht UAC.
The completely modernized Air Traffic Control room at EUROCONTROL’s Maastricht UAC has been inaugurated in January this year. It is the second largest ATC center in Europe in terms of traffic volume. In 2002, the center handled close to 1,200,000 flights in the upper airspace of Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and the North-West of Germany. In this very dense and complex traffic situation, controllers rely on Barco’s ISIS LCD main displays, PVS graphics controllers and ODS TOOLBOX® software for their life-critical decision-making.
With the award of a direct support contract for ODS TOOLBOX®, EUROCONTROL confirms its confidence in Barco’s products and in Barco as a provider of state-of-the-art operational display components.
