Barco’s ODS Toolbox® software selected by VNIIRA-OVD to equip Minsk Air Traffic Control center
Kortrijk, Belgium / Bremen, Germany, 3 December 2003 – Barco’s ODS TOOLBOX® software was selected by VNIIRA-OVD, an affiliate of the National Russian Scientific & Research Institute for Radio Equipment, based in St. Petersburg, Russia, to equip the Area Control Center, Terminal, and Tower System in Minsk, Byelorussia. ODS TOOLBOX® software will be used within Syntez, a new display generation complying with the main Eurocontrol recommendations for Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
For more than one year VNIIRA-OVD has been using Barco’s ODS TOOLBOX® for the development, evaluation and testing of Syntez. Thanks to the user-friendly and powerful development environment of Barco’s ODS TOOLBOX®, the development time of Syntez was extremely short. ODS TOOLBOX® is now also dedicated to operational use within Syntez.Barco’s ODS TOOLBOX® is the most widely used application toolbox for operational ATC display systems. ODS TOOLBOX® provides the tools to visualize application data, process operator interactions, and exchange information with external systems. As a true application toolbox with extensible modularity, it can be used for rapid prototyping of new HMIs, for the implementation phase and for maintenance, with complete re-use of the code. With more than 1,500 installations, ODS TOOLBOX® has become a de facto standard for new European ATC-projects within the framework of the Eurocontrol European Air Traffic Control Harmonisation and Integration Programme (EATCHIP) activities.
