Case study
Identity of the Soul is a cinematic performance based on two famous poems by Mahmoud Darwish and Henrik Ibsen. It features digitally projected symbolic images combined with images of an actor reciting the poems. The show has been produced in seven different language versions, each with a native actor reciting them: Mahmoud Darwish, Irrfan Khan, Jean Rochefort, Vanessa Redgrave, Anne Grete Preus, Gila Almagor and Jan Wiig.
Five Barco DP-2000 digital cinema projectors are used to project the images onto five screens. Key factor in choosing a projector was versatility. The shows are performed in various locations over the world, mostly outdoors. Therefore the team needed a projector that could perform even in non traditional circumstances. The show has already toured the West Bank in September 2008 and Qatar and Skien, Norway, in 2009.
