Barco Enhances Gaming Experience Through Stunning Visual Displays

LOGAN, Utah - February 2, 2005 – Barco, the world’s most innovative supplier of indoor and outdoor video displays, today announced the completion of visual display solutions adding light and advertising value, and enhancing the customer’s gaming experience in three gaming establishments across the nation.

The Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula Calif., the Potowatomi Bingo Casino in Milwaukee, and Grand Casino Mille Lacs in Onamia, Minn., each chose to use Barco’s display solutions because of their high-resolution and overall quality.

In the poker room at the Pechanga Resort & Casino, Barco suspended a three-sided Ilite 6-millimeter display solution from the ceiling. It also installed six Barco projectors that display various sports games, video playback and other multimedia content on the room’s walls.

The poker room’s unique multimedia properties give customers the opportunity to watch the sports game of their choice without ever having to leave the poker table.

“We looked at many companies and many designs before choosing Barco to enhance the comfortable atmosphere that we wanted for our poker room guests,” said Larry Miranda, director of table games operations at Pechanga Resort & Casino. “Working with Barco we were able to meet and exceed our expectations and to provide our guests with top-of-the line audio and video equipment that no other casino has, which enables us to remain a cut above the rest. Anyone visiting our poker room will certainly realize this to be true.”

For the Potowatomi Bingo Casino, Barco completed the installation of 33 new Solaris LC40 screens. These liquid crystal displays (LCDs) are praised for their sharp resolution, long lifetime and for avoiding the burn-in effect that often plagues similar flat-panel displays. They will be used by the casino to enhance its advertising value and provide promotional opportunities.

“We chose to upgrade and use Barco screens because of their clarity and quality,” said Dale Ksionzyk, video and animation designer at Potowatomi Bingo Casino. “It was easy to see a significant difference between Barco’s screens and others that were available. Everything just seemed to be of a higher quality.”

The quality of Barco’s products was also a deciding factor at Grand Casino Mille Lacs, where Barco recently replaced the existing outdoor display with two 11- x 26.5-foot outdoor Light Emitting Diode (LED) panel walls.

Each panel wall consists of 45 Barco SLite tiles that are each equipped with 3,200 coordinated clusters of lighted pixels. Together, the tiles create a colorful marquee that is used to showcase entertainment, promote events, advertise specials and market other in-house promotions.

“The installations we have completed in these gaming facilities have proven to be some of the best showcases of our product versatility,” said Dave Janke, executive vice president and general manager of Barco Media. “Our display solutions have helped to create an appealing atmosphere in some high-class casinos.”
