Barco launches “Barco Innovation Partner” (BIP) program for Science Museums and Planetariums.
As the new century settles in, a new generation of cultural consumers has come of age. Different spending patterns, more discriminating consuming choices, and a particularly critical spirit, challenge museums and planetariums more than ever to renew their offer and to adapt to the preferences of these rapidly emerging publics.
To foster innovation within these markets, Barco recently created a dedicated ”Edutainment and Entertainment” (E&E) product group within its Barco Simulation Products division. Barco E&E invites Science Museums and Planetariums that are either in the process of creating a new exhibition area or undergoing a major renovation of their offer, to partner together to study possible avenues of collaboration.When an agreement is reached, partners of the Barco BIP Program benefit of matching funds between Barco and the other partners. To be funded through the BIP program, all projects must exhibit an innovation factor of at least 30 percent, that is, 30 cents of investment on innovation and prototyping, for each dollar or euro invested on product line systems from Barco or other partners.
The “Barco Innovation Partner” program enables to create unique programs and services designed to specific needs. It aims to set new trends with a new range of use of the latest state-of-the-art technologies that shift the focus from mere “showing” to profound “immersing” and even more desirable creating “interaction” with the visitor. The program is open to all members of the Science Museum and Planetarium community world wide, with a limit to a maximum of 20 organizations.
