Second Quarter Confirms Barco’s Breakthrough in Chinese market
Beijing, China, (June 30, 2004) – BarcoLeyard, the joint venture of Barco NV (80%) and Beijing Leyard Electronics (20%), is pleased to announce that it is off to a very good start. After production of LED displays started at the site in Changping, China, in the beginning of this year, it has already signed 9 contracts for LED display solutions. These contracts cover sports, entertainment, branding and advertising applications, showing BarcoLeyard’s ability to address a wide range of specific customer needs, with strong local customer support. These projects were all signed in the 2nd quarter, and have substantially strengthened BarcoLeyard’s position in the Chinese market.
Tianya Building (Beijing) in the prosperous trading area of YaBao Road is the first BarcoLeyard LED display in Beijing. This display solution consists of more than 20 square meter of SLite 14 outdoor LED display. The screen thrills the audience with high-impact advertising and promotion videos. Recognizing the optimal quality and service rendered by BarcoLeyard, Beijing Tianya also ordered two of Barco’s projectors.
Guangzhou New Airport (Guangzhou, Guangdong Province) is BarcoLeyard’s first indoor LED project. The 21.7 square meter ILite 12 screen will be located in a premium spot of this airport, the third biggest in China. After the installation in July, 2004, it will work in the huge digital signage network of information release and advertising.
Suzhou International Exhibition Center (Suzhou, Jiangsu) is the largest exhibition center in Suzhou Province. It will soon host the biggest BarcoLeyard LED screen so far in China. The SLite 14 outdoor LED display of over 100m2 will be set up in September, 2004.
The Worker’s Stadium (Beijing) is one of the largest stadiums in China, which frequently welcomes Beijing’s main international events. The stadium has chosen to install more than 65 square meter of SLite 10 outdoor LED display.
The Chaoyang Exhibition Booth, located in the City Planning Demonstration Hall of Beijing, which is a popular stop-over for important political guests visiting Beijing, hosts a permanent ILite 8 indoor LED set-up, showing the master-plan of Beijing’s richest and most international district. The LED display measures almost 20 square meters and incorporates Barco’s Signam!cs content management solution.
The lobby of the Shanghai Power Company now features an ultra bright ILite 6 indoor LED display from Barco, displaying welcome messages and corporate branding material to the company’s visitors.
BarcoLeyard’s outdoor and indoor LED products and solutions have clearly found a smooth way into the Chinese market. Together with Barco’s LED displays at the F1 racetrack in Shanghai, these projects testify BarcoLeyard’s leadership position in the competitive Chinese LED display market and they contribute to the overall success in the worldwide market.
