Barco delivers ideal platform for high-demanding software applications
Kuurne, Belgium – November 8, 2001 – From cinema to games and themeparks, advanced virtual reality technology has revolutionized the world of entertainment. The world of the dinosaurs for instance, is digitaly recreated for entertainment as well as educational purposes. Digital actors are performing on digital sets in the movie Final Fantasy: the Spirits Within. Themeparks are integrating all kinds of 3D immersive and virtual reality applications in their attractions to offer their visitors even more overwhelming experiences. Every one of those applications are basically about creating 3D imaginary worlds where people can immerse themselves in a world beyond imagination.
At the annual tradeshow of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), Barco Simulation Products (multiscreen 3D projection solutions) joins hands with de pinxi (software for interactive experiences) to demonstrate a ‘Group Interactive Immersive Theater’. It has a compact design of 20x20x10ft and provides an immersive 150° horizontal field of view and is therefore perfectly suited for group interactive experiences in which the viewers are immersed in a virtual 3D world. The set-up of this self-contained theater, which is equipped with three state-of-the-art BarcoReality 909 projectors, is easy and fast thanks to the interlocking modular supporting structures and curved Barco screen.
