Barco to supply video and scoreboard equipment for Texas and Jacksonville sports arenas
Kortrijk – Barco today announces that it has signed contracts worth more than 2 million US dollar to install a complete package of video and scoreboard equipment at the University of Texas and the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. The deals highlight Barco’s leading position in full-color LED applications for the Sports market and confirm that the company's recent strategic acquisitions have considerably strengthened the company’s position in the Media market in North America. By October 2003, all equipment will have been installed in both arenas.
At the University of Austin over two million, full-color LED’s will illuminate the basketball arena. The center-hung video and scoreboard system will be used for live video footage and instant replays during the Texas Longhorns’ basketball games and other events held at the arena. In addition, Barco will also supply an LED display that will be located on the exterior of the arena facing Red River Street for arena publicity.“We wanted to provide Longhorn fans with the best products on the market to enhance their sports experience,” states Douglas Messer, Assistant Athletic Director, University of Texas, Austin.
The Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, host to professional and NCAA sporting events, concerts, family shows, and religious events, will install a custom-designed video and scoreboard system. Barco’s LED video displays will be used for stunning live image magnification, replays and graphics.
