BARCO Launches MEDIS TILE® 3MP Medical Flat Panel Display System
CHICAGO, IL, 26 November, 2000 -- BARCO is pleased to announce a new flat panel-based display system to their successful range of MEDIS® plug and play solutions for softcopy diagnosis. The latest additions to this unique MEDIS® range is MEDIS TILE® 3MP, which is based upon the combination of unequalled softcopy quality and guaranteed technical compliance between BARCO's high-end display components. This plug-and-play flat panel concept offers system vendors and integrators a completely new diagnostic image quality solution.
BARCO's MEDIS TILE® 3MP is a medical display system integrating BARCO's 20" diagnostic Medical Flat Greyscale Display MFGD3220, with a resolution of 2048 x 1536. The flat panel display is bundled with the BARCOMED® 3MP2FH, a 10-bit dual-head digital medical imaging board featuring the AURA technology for ultra-fast image loading. This completely digital 3MP plug and play imaging chain rules out unwanted image artifacts and guarantees clear and flicker-free images. MEDIS TILE® 3MP is available in single-head, dual-head and quad-head configurations. With its high contrast ratio, the MFGD 3220 can be used in both dark reading rooms and ambient light conditions. The flat panel display is equipped with a tilt & swivel base, which makes it possible to switch between landscape and portrait mode. The base can be removed for use in mounting applications. To protect the vulnerable LCD from damage and scratches, the MFGD has a front cover protection filter.
DICOM Optimizer® Software
To meet the DICOM standard for viewing medical images, BARCO's flat panel displays are standard bundled with the DICOM Optimizer® software (Win2K only). In a number of easy steps, users can determine the transfer curve of their display system and have it adapted in accordance with DICOM supplement 28, the directive for viewing medical images. With the DICOM Optimizer® software, all Barco flat panels are perceptually linearized, i.e. they have the same perception of an image, independent of the characteristics of the display system (and graphics controller) used. The DICOM Optimizer® software guarantees a consistent image representation, independent of the system used, and correct greyscale tracking over the entire luminance range.
BARCO's Medical Flat Color Display MFCD 1218
In addition to the MFGD 3320 greyscale flat panel display for diagnostic reading, BARCO is also introducing the MFCD 1218 18" color flat panel display with a resolution of 1280 x 1024, which has been designed for general medical viewing. A special kit for wall- and ceiling-mounting is included (VESA 75 mm STD). User controls are available through OSD. Both analog and digital (DVI connector) imaging boards drive Barco's flat panel displays.
